Mounted Guided Float Level Switch is a top mounted level switch with bracket suitable for mounting on the tank wall. This model can be used for open tanks where there is no pressure. The compression type gland fitting on the bracket gives the customer the advantage of adjusting the level as desired on site. Enclosures and size of the float will differ as per applications.

Reed Switch Actuated Horizontal Mounted Float Switch are widely used for measurement and control of almost any liquid level. User area include lubrication systems, hydraulic power packs, industrial washing & cleaning systems. Ultrasonic cleaning equipments, machine tools, storage tanks, liquid dispensing systems, over head and underground storage tanks, thermic fluid heaters, boilers etc. Potential free contacts provided in the level switch may be utilised to make or break an electrical circuit indication of high and low levels, audible high/low level alarms, automatic pump control, to open or close electrically operated valves, to cut-off or switch on heating elements. The Basic reed switch consists of two identical flattened ferromagnetic reeds, sealed in a dry inert-gas atmosphere within a glass capsule as shown above. The reeds are sealed in the capsule in cantilever form so that their free ends overlap and are separated by a small air gap. When a magnetic force is generated parallel to the reed switch, the reeds become flux carriers in the magnetic circuit. The overlapping ends of the reeds become opposite magnetic poles, which attract each other. If the magnetic force between the poles is strong enough to overcome the restoring force of the reeds, the reeds will be drawn together when the magnetic force is withdrawn the contact breaks.

Side-Mounted Level Switch:

• A hermetically sealed-in-glass reed switch located inside the stem is actuated by a magnet in the tailpiece of the float, when the float moves upward due to rise of liquid level
• When the liquid level falls the float moves downward, the magnet moves away and the Reed Switch contact breaks

Mounted Float Level Switch work on permanent magnet reed switch basis. The floats which contain permanent magnets move freely between their stops rising or falling with liquid level movement. Hermetically sealed within the tube are reed switches, completely isolated from the medium. The magnet's field actuates the reed switch as the float moves while the stoppers restrict overrun and prevent the reed switch returning to its original position. Stopper positions should not be changed.

Side Mounting Float Switch work on the principle of magnetic repulsion and therefore they are glandless and leak proff instruments. A permanent magnet fitted in the tail piece of the float reples another magnet inside the switch housing which in turn operates an SPDT microswitch. Microswitch contacts can be utilized for initiating audio-visual signals or pump control.

Caution:

• Level Switches should not be used for direct starting / stopping of pumps. An external relay or contractor must always be used with the level switch.
• MLS-16 side mounted level switches must always be mounted horizontally with outgoing cable entry facing downwards.
• In case of high temperature Model MLS-04-92 HT/MLS-16-92HT and Low Temperature Models SMT-16-F82 and SMT-16-F92 arc suppressors/current limiting bias resistor must be provided depending on the load viz inductive or lamp load etc. to reduce the deteriorating effect of contacts due to surge voltages and high in-rush current.
